Oz OverBoots Hikers Oilskin Gaiters

The Oz OverBoots Hikers Oilskin Gaiters are low gaiters for walkers, cut from the same brown oilskin as the Oz OverBoots work range. They sit round the ankle on an elasticated top and cover the top of a walking boot or shoe, stopping dirt, grit and gravel getting in, with the added bonus of being water repellent.

The fabric is Australian-made cotton treated with paraffin and Teflon, in traditional brown. Oz OverBoots describe it as having a superior level of water and soil resistance, so wet grass, puddle splashes and muddy steps run off rather than soaking into your socks. There are no straps or buckles to struggle with: they are simple to put on before your boots and forget about until the end of the walk.

The photos show them on muddy woodland steps and climbing a stile, which is exactly where loose grit and wet leaves get into boots. They are much lighter and quicker than full-length walking gaiters for everyday paths. Oz OverBoots run the business from a working arable farm in North Bedfordshire.
