Kelty Rad-Arondack Chair - Wood Thrush

The Kelty Rad-Arondack Chair in Wood Thrush is the plain one: a solid coyote tan seat on a charcoal powder-coated aluminium frame, with no pattern on it anywhere. Underneath is the classic Adirondack shape, the deep reclined back and wide flat arms you already know, folded down flat enough to drop in the boot.

Kelty built the Rad-Arondack line for what they call camp-leisure: car camping, the back garden barbecue and the touchline, rather than the trail. The chair is rated to 147kg on a 35.6cm seat, goes together with hand-tightened thumb screws, and packs down two ways: folded flat and held with its retaining strap, or rolled into its carry-wrap, which opens out as a padded dog bed.

Tan is a forgiving colour outdoors, since dust and dry grass barely show on it, and it sits happily next to kit you already own. Weight is kept sensible rather than minimal at 4.3kg, so this is a chair for the car, not the rucksack.
