The Bolle SWAT Tactical Sunglasses are the closest thing in Bolle's glasses range to goggle coverage without actually being goggles. Where the rimless BSSI models hang a lens off an upper frame, the SWAT builds a full frame right around it and adds integrated lateral protection at the sides, so the wrap carries on past your peripheral vision instead of stopping at the edge of the lens.
The frame is a highly flexible nylon with PVC pads, non-slip at the temples and at the nose bridge, and the whole thing still comes in at 28g. The smoke polycarbonate lens carries Bolle's PLATINUM anti-scratch and anti-fog coating on both faces and filters 99.99% of UVA and UVB.
The lens is marked 5-3.1 1 FT KN and the frame EN166 FT CE UKCA. That reads as an EN172 sunglare filter at 13% light transmission, optical class 1 for permanent wear, F for low energy impact (a 6mm 0.86g ball at 45 m/s) with T for that test at extreme temperatures, and K and N for the anti-scratch and anti-fog coating. The F is only the EN low-energy test. Ballistic performance is certified separately to STANAG 2920 and the US military spec MIL-PRF-31013, at a measured V50 of 219.8 m/s, or 719 km/h.
