The Bolle Silium+ BSSI Ballistic Glasses put a genuine military fragmentation rating into one of the lightest frames Bolle makes, at 21g. A polycarbonate half-frame carries a single smoke lens with no rim across the bottom, so the view stays wide and open and the glasses all but disappear on the face.
The ultra-thin flexible temples are the point of the design. They sit flat under helmet retention straps and the earcups of hearing protection rather than breaking the seal, and a non-slip nose bridge holds the frame in place when you move. Both faces of the lens carry Bolle's PLATINUM coating for anti-scratch and anti-fog performance, and the smoke tint filters 99.99% of UVA and UVB.
The lens is marked 5-3.1 1FT KN and the frame EN166 FT CE UKCA. Read that as an EN172 sunglare filter at 13% light transmission, optical class 1 for permanent wear, F for low energy impact (a 6mm 0.86g ball at 45 m/s) with T for that same test at extreme temperatures, and K and N for the anti-scratch and anti-fog coating. That F is only the EN low-energy test. Ballistic performance is measured separately to STANAG 2920, where the Silium+ records a V50 of 207.4 m/s, or 745 km/h.
