Bolle Prescription RX Insert for Combat Glasses
Goes well with
The Bolle RX Insert for Combat Glasses lets prescription wearers use the Combat ballistic glasses with their own corrective lenses. The lightweight carrier clips onto the nose bridge and sits behind the one-piece lens, positioning prescription lenses where they are needed.
Designed for the Combat tactical platform, the insert leaves the glasses' ballistic protection untouched while delivering clear, corrected vision. Take it to your optician to have your prescription fitted.
Two things to be clear about before you buy.
- This is the carrier only. Prescription lenses are not included and are not fitted by us. You take the insert to your own optician, who glazes it to your prescription.
- The lenses fitted are standard prescription lenses, not certified safety lenses. All of the ballistic and impact protection comes from the Combat's outer lens. The insert sits behind it and is not rated to any safety standard on its own.
Bolle advises its inserts suit weak to medium prescriptions, so check yours with your optician before ordering.
How to Get Your Prescription Fitted
The insert arrives unglazed, exactly as an empty frame would. Any UK optician with a glazing service can fit lenses to it.
- Order the insert. You receive the carrier only, with no lenses in it.
- Call your optician first. Independents and most high-street opticians will glaze a carrier you supply. A few chains only glaze frames bought in store, so it is worth a phone call before you travel.
- Take the insert in with you. The optician needs the physical carrier to trace its shape and edge the lenses to fit it. A prescription alone is not enough.
- Bring your prescription details. Your optician will want PD (pupillary distance), SPH (sphere), CYL (cylinder) and AXIS, plus any addition for reading.
- Consider polycarbonate. It is light and hard-wearing, which helps when the lens sits close to your face behind the ballistic lens.
- Clip it in. Once glazed, the insert clips onto the nose bridge and lifts back out for cleaning.
Single vision is the straightforward option. The lens area is small and sits close to the eye, so discuss varifocals or bifocals with your optician before committing to them.
