Jack Pyke Electronic Ear Defenders

The Jack Pyke Electronic Ear Defenders solve the problem with ordinary ear defenders: they protect your hearing without cutting you out of the day. The active circuitry amplifies low level sound, so you can still hold a conversation on the peg and still hear a bird get up behind you, and reduces harmful gunfire and noise above 82dB. NRR 23dB.

The cups are plain olive green with Jack Pyke of England printed on the outer face, on a black padded headband that adjusts on wire sliders. Slim mesh microphone ports sit flush in the cup, so nothing catches when the gun comes up to your cheek. A ribbed thumbwheel on the cup runs from OFF up through a graduated scale, so switching on and setting the listening level is the same movement, and a green light shows they are live. They fold flat for the cartridge bag and run on two AAA batteries.
