In 1997, Ironclad was born from a simple but powerful observation by its founder, Ed Jaeger. While working on a construction site, Jaeger noticed that although the workers had specialized tools for their tasks, none of them wore gloves. When asked why, the workers all had similar complaints: available gloves were too bulky, hot, and ill-fitting, making it difficult to feel and handle their tools. This revelation struck Jaeger, who, having grown up using task-specific gloves for motorcycling, recognized the need for gloves that not only protected but also enhanced performance.
Jaeger envisioned creating gloves that provided both protection and precision, without compromise. His goal was to establish a brand that workers could trust and wear with pride—a brand that would endure alongside them through the toughest jobs. These workers, the unsung heroes who build and maintain the world around us, were his inspiration.
Ironclad pioneered the development of task-specific gloves designed to make work safer, more efficient, and more effective. But innovation didn’t stop at design. Ironclad introduced new technologies, materials, and features tailored to harsh working environments. This commitment to innovation has led to the granting of 30 global patents and over 70 trademarks worldwide. These technological advancements are integrated into nearly every glove Ironclad produces, reinforcing the brand’s dedication to the real Everyday Heroes
