Snugpak make sleeping bags for almost every condition you can think of, from humid jungle nights to Arctic deployment, and the range is broad enough that it is easy to lose track of which bag does what. The good news is that it sorts neatly once you know two things: the temperature rating, and which of Snugpak's three insulation types the bag uses.
This guide walks through every Snugpak sleeping bag family we stock, explains what each is built for, and ends with a simple "which should I pick" section by scenario. Tap any product link to see current pricing, colours and zip options.
How to read a Snugpak sleeping bag
Two numbers and one material decide almost everything.
The temperature ratings. Snugpak quote a Comfort rating and a Low rating. Comfort is the temperature at which a typical sleeper should stay warm through the night; Low is the limit, where the bag keeps you safe but not necessarily comfortable. Choose by the Comfort figure for the coldest nights you realistically expect, and remember you can stretch any bag further with a sleeping bag liner.
The insulation. Snugpak use three different fills, and knowing them tells you what a bag is really for:
- Softie and Softie Premier - Snugpak's own UK-made insulation, engineered to mimic the loft of natural down while still holding warmth when damp. It is usually paired with a Reflectatherm metallised lining that reflects body heat back to you. This is the premium fill, used across the Softie ladder, the Tactical range and the Special Forces system.
- Isofibre - a hollowfibre fill that re-lofts quickly after being packed and keeps insulating when wet. It is the value choice: a little heavier for the warmth, easy on the budget, and used in the Sleeper bags, the TSB, and the Navigator and Nautilus.
- Travelsoft - a highly compressible travel fill, paired with an antibacterial lining and a built-in roll-away mosquito net. It is what the Travelpak and Jungle bags use for warm-climate and overseas travel.
One more practical point: the Softie ladder, Tactical and Special Forces bags are made in the UK, while the Isofibre, Travelsoft and Softie Elite bags are made overseas to keep the price down.
The Softie range: the warmth ladder

The Softie range is the heart of the line-up and the easiest to understand: warmth rises with the number. They share the same recipe - Softie Premier insulation, no stitch-through construction to avoid cold spots, a Reflectatherm lining, Paratex fabrics and a mummy shape - so you are mainly choosing how cold it will get.
| Softie bag | Comfort | Low | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Softie 3 | +5°C | 0°C | Spring and summer |
| Softie 6 | 0°C | -5°C | Late spring to autumn |
| Softie 9 | -5°C | -10°C | Three-season into cold |
| Softie 10 | -7°C | -12°C | Cold weather |
| Softie 12 | -10°C | -15°C | Winter |
| Softie 15 | -15°C | -20°C | Deep winter and Arctic |
| Softie Antarctica | -20°C | -30°C | Extreme cold |
So the Softie 3 is a lightweight summer bag, the Softie 9 is the classic UK three-season choice, the 10 and 12 move into winter, the 15 handles deep winter, and the Antarctica is for genuinely extreme conditions.
Best for: anyone who wants the best warmth-for-weight in a UK-made bag and knows roughly how cold their nights get. Add a liner to push any of them colder.
Shop the Softie 3, Softie 6, Softie 9, Softie 10, Softie 12, Softie 15 and Softie Antarctica.
Softie Expansion and Softie Elite: more room to move

If a standard mummy feels too restrictive, these solve it with an expander panel that widens the bag when you want room to move or need to cool down, then draws back in for warmth.
- Softie Expansion 2 - a three-season bag (+2°C comfort, -3°C low) with the EEP elasticated expander panel, a Reflectatherm lining and a built-in LED torch.
- Softie Elite 3 - an adaptable bag at -5°C comfort with a deployable side baffle for extra width.
- Softie Elite 4 - the colder-rated Elite at -10°C comfort for winter use, with the same expander design.
Best for: campers who find normal mummy bags too tight, or who like to open up on warmer nights without losing cold-weather capability.
Shop the Softie Expansion 2, Softie Elite 3 and Softie Elite 4.
The Tactical range (2, 3, 4)

The Tactical bags take the Softie Premier formula and add field-focused features: a TS1 Thermal Suede lining that wicks moisture and feels warm on contact, an insulated neck and shoulder baffle, and an internally reinforced foot so you can sleep with boots on. Warmth rises with the number - the Tactical 2 at 0°C comfort, the Tactical 3 at -7°C, and the Tactical 4 at -12°C.
Best for: military and cadet field use, and anyone who wants a tougher, more feature-led three-season-into-winter bag.
Shop the Tactical 2, Tactical 3 and Tactical 4.
The Special Forces system (1 and 2)

The Special Forces bags are designed to work alone or as a modular system. Use the Special Forces 1 on its own for mild conditions (+5°C comfort); use the Special Forces 2 (-7°C comfort) for three-season cold; or zip the two together with the extra baffle for an integrated extreme cold weather system rated to around -15°C. Both use a centre zip and the boots-on reinforced foot.
Best for: people who want one adaptable system that covers everything from summer to deep winter, rather than buying separate bags.
Shop the Special Forces 1 and Special Forces 2.
The Sleeper range and TSB: value warmth

These bags use Isofibre hollowfibre rather than Softie Premier, which keeps the price down at the cost of a little extra weight and bulk. They are an excellent way into a warm, dependable bag.
- TSB (The Sleeping Bag) - an Isofibre all-rounder at -2°C comfort, and the natural first three-season mummy bag.
- Sleeper Lite - a three-season bag at -5°C comfort.
- Sleeper Extreme - a cold-weather bag at -7°C comfort.
- Sleeper Expedition - the warmest of the range, a four-season bag at -12°C comfort for winter and base-camp use.
Best for: campers who want reliable warmth at a friendlier price, and vehicle-based or base-camp trips where a slightly bulkier bag is no problem.
Shop the TSB, Sleeper Lite, Sleeper Extreme and Sleeper Expedition.
The Travelpak range and Jungle: travel and warm climates

These use Travelsoft insulation with a Paratex Antibacterial lining and, crucially, a built-in roll-away mosquito net that zips over the face and tucks away when not needed. They are made for travel and overseas trips, and the warmth rises through the range.
- Travelpak Traveller - the lightest bag Snugpak make at 900g, rated to +7°C comfort, rectangular and opens flat as a blanket.
- Travelpak 2 - a mummy bag at +2°C comfort for warm-climate travel.
- Travelpak 3 - a step up at -3°C comfort for cooler nights.
- Travelpak 4 - the warmest at -7°C comfort for colder-climate travel.
- Jungle - a tropical specialist at +7°C comfort and just 900g, with the mosquito net and a square cut that unzips flat into a quilt for hot, humid nights.
Best for: travelling, backpacking abroad, hot and humid or insect-heavy environments, and anyone who wants built-in bug protection without a separate net.
Shop the Travelpak Traveller, Travelpak 2, Travelpak 3, Travelpak 4 and the Jungle Sleeping Bag.
Navigator and Nautilus: rectangular value bags
Rounding out the range, the Navigator (-2°C comfort) and Nautilus (+3°C comfort) are straightforward Isofibre bags with a rectangular cut that unzips flat into a quilt. They give more room to move than a mummy bag and are a comfortable, budget-friendly choice for milder camping, cadet use and festivals - the Navigator being the warmer-rated of the two.
