What does 2 season actually mean?
Broadly, late spring to early autumn, when overnight temperatures stay above freezing. Season ratings are not a tested standard and are not consistent between brands, so treat them as a guide and check the manufacturer's stated comfort rating on the product page before you buy.
Will a 2 season bag do for UK camping?
In July and August at a low-lying campsite, usually yes. In spring or autumn, or anywhere with height on it, you will want 3 season. UK nights get colder than people expect, and being cold at 3am is not something a jacket fixes.
Can I make a summer bag warmer?
A liner adds a useful amount of warmth for very little weight or bulk, and it keeps the bag cleaner. It is the standard way to stretch one bag across more of the year.
Down or synthetic?
