Returns & Exchanges (EU)

At Task Outdoor, we aim to provide fit-for-purpose gear. Nothing is perfect, and regardless of brand or price, sometimes things do not work out. When that happens, our customer service team is here to get the problem solved quickly.

This page sets out your returns options if you are a customer in the European Union. You have a legal right to withdraw from your order within 14 days, and our own 100-day returns promise applies in addition. Neither limits your legal rights if an item is faulty.

Right of Withdrawal (14 days)

You have the right to withdraw from your order within 14 days, without giving any reason. The withdrawal period ends 14 days after the day you, or someone you name other than the carrier, receive the goods. If your order arrives in more than one delivery, the 14 days run from the day you receive the last item.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, log in to your account and request a cancellation from your order history within 14 days of delivery. We will acknowledge your withdrawal by email.

Withdraw Order

If you checked out without an account, or would rather not log in, you can use our online withdrawal form instead.

You can also withdraw by email. Send it to sales@taskoutdoor.co.uk with the subject line Withdrawal from order followed by your order number, and include:

  • your full name and address,
  • your order number,
  • the date you ordered and the date you received the goods,
  • the items you are withdrawing from, if it is not the whole order, and
  • a clear statement that you wish to withdraw, for example: "I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract of sale of the following goods."

We will acknowledge your email by reply. Your withdrawal counts as long as you send it before the 14 days are up.

You must then return the goods to us without undue delay, and no later than 14 days after the day you tell us you are withdrawing. You pay the direct cost of returning the goods, unless they are faulty or we have made an error.

We will refund all payments received from you, including the cost of standard outbound delivery, no later than 14 days after the day we are told of your decision to withdraw. If you chose a delivery option more expensive than our standard delivery, we do not refund the extra cost. We may hold the refund until we have received the goods back, or you have sent us proof that you have returned them, whichever is earlier. The refund goes to the payment method you used for the order, and you will not be charged any fee for it.

You are only responsible for any drop in the value of the goods caused by handling them more than is needed to check what they are, their features and how they work. In practice, you can inspect an item as you would in a shop. If it shows signs of use beyond that, we may make a deduction from the refund.

The right of withdrawal does not apply to goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised, or to sealed goods that have been opened after delivery and are not suitable for return on health protection or hygiene grounds.

Our 100-day returns promise

If the 14 days have passed, or you simply want longer, our own returns promise lets you return most items within 100 days of the date of purchase, provided they are:

  • new, unused and in a resaleable condition, and
  • returned with all original packaging, tags and accessories.

We understand that some of our specialist customers are sometimes unable to meet the 100-day limit. If that applies to you, get in touch and we will look at your return case by case.

For 100-day returns, you pay the return postage, unless the item is faulty or we have made a mistake. Once we have received and inspected the item, we will refund the price paid for it.

Items made or personalised to your order, sealed items that have been opened and are not suitable for return on hygiene grounds, and gift cards cannot be returned under our 100-day policy. This does not affect your legal rights.

Returning a parcel from the EU takes time and postage, so please check the size information on the product page before you order. We go to great lengths to make sure all our clothing has size information, as sizes vary from brand to brand and product to product.

Faulty, damaged or incorrect items

If an item is faulty, arrives damaged or is not as described, you are protected by the EU legal guarantee, which lasts at least two years from delivery. This applies whether or not you are within our 14-day or 100-day windows.

  • You are entitled to have the item repaired or replaced free of charge.
  • If a repair or replacement is not possible, or is not carried out within a reasonable time, you can ask for a price reduction or, unless the fault is minor, a refund.
  • If we sent the wrong item or made a mistake with your order, we will put it right at no cost to you.
  • We cover the return cost. Where you have paid to send a faulty item back, we will reimburse reasonable postage, so please keep your receipt.
  • Original packaging is not required for a faulty-item return, though we may ask for proof of purchase.

Please email us before sending a faulty item back, with your order number and a short description or photo of the problem, so we can agree the best way to return it.

Exchanges

If you would like a different size or colour, let us know when you contact us. We will check stock and confirm the options with you before you send the original item back.

For change-of-mind exchanges, you pay the postage to return the original item and the postage for the replacement to be sent out to you. If you are exchanging because the item is faulty or we made a mistake, we cover the cost.

How to return an item

  1. Tell us first. For a withdrawal, use the Withdraw Order button, the withdrawal form or email, as set out above. For a 100-day return, an exchange or a faulty item, email sales@taskoutdoor.co.uk with your order number and, for faulty items, a short description or photo of the problem.
  2. Pack the items securely with a note giving your full name, address, telephone number or email, your order number and a short description of the problem or exchange. No return form is needed.
  3. Complete the customs declaration. The UK is outside the EU, so your parcel needs one. Describe the contents as Returned goods and quote your order number, so UK customs can see that the parcel is a return, not a new sale.
  4. Send the parcel to the address below. We recommend a tracked service with enough cover for the value of your parcel, as we are not the sender and cannot contact the carrier on your behalf.

Return Address: Task Outdoor Returns, C/O Big Yellow Storage, 8-9 Rodney Road, Southsea, Portsmouth, PO4 8BF, United Kingdom

Refunds

For withdrawals, the refund rules in the Right of Withdrawal section above apply. For 100-day returns and faulty items, once your return has arrived and been inspected, we will process your refund to the original payment method used for the order. Refunds are normally issued within 5 working days of the items reaching us, though it can take a little longer for the funds to appear on your statement depending on your bank or card provider.
