Tracked Delivery From the UK to Canada
We ship every Canadian order from our base in the UK using Royal Mail International Tracked. Once your parcel arrives in Canada, Canada Post takes over for the final delivery to your door.
Delivery Costs
Prices are shown in Canadian dollars. Delivery to Canada is priced by the weight of your parcel. The exact cost is shown in your cart and at checkout before you pay.
Free delivery offers on our site apply to UK orders only.
We can send parcels up to 5kg to Canada. If your basket is heavier than that, checkout will not show a delivery option, so please email sales@taskoutdoor.co.uk and we will help.
Estimated Delivery Times
Royal Mail aims to deliver to Canada within 5 to 7 working days of dispatch. This is an estimate from Royal Mail and is not guaranteed.
Please allow extra time for remote and rural addresses, during busy periods such as Christmas, and if your parcel is selected for a customs check. Delivery times are counted from the point of dispatch, not the time the order is placed.
Same Day Dispatch: Before 2:30pm Monday to Friday, Before 11:30am Saturday (UK Time)
We aim to dispatch all orders the same day they are placed, Monday to Friday for orders placed before 2:30pm UK time, and Saturday for orders placed before 11:30am UK time. Orders placed after the cut-off, or on a Sunday, are dispatched on the next working day. No orders are dispatched on UK bank holidays, as there are no postal collections.
Tracking Your Parcel
You will receive a tracking number by email as soon as your order is dispatched. You can follow your parcel on the Royal Mail website, and once it has arrived in Canada, on the Canada Post website too.
Duty, Taxes and Fees Payable on Delivery
Our prices and delivery charges do not include Canadian duty or taxes. We do not collect them at checkout. Instead, they are worked out by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) when your parcel arrives, and collected from you by Canada Post before your parcel is released.
Orders Worth CA$20 or Less
Parcels with a value of CA$20 or less arrive with nothing to pay.
Orders Worth More Than CA$20
Almost every order is over this amount, so please expect to pay some or all of the following charges when your parcel arrives:
- Customs duty. The rate depends on the type of item and the country where it was made. Goods made in the UK can qualify for duty-free entry under the Canada-UK Trade Continuity Agreement. Most of the brands we stock are made outside the UK, so standard Canadian duty rates usually apply to them, and clothing, footwear and sleeping bags are among the higher-rated goods.
- GST or HST. Sales tax is charged on the value of your goods plus any duty. You pay 5% GST, or HST if you live in a province that uses it, which combines GST and provincial sales tax at a higher rate.
- Provincial sales tax (PST). In some provinces that do not use HST, the CBSA also collects PST on your parcel.
- Canada Post handling fee. Canada Post charges a fixed fee for collecting duty and taxes on each parcel that has them to pay. There is no fee on parcels with nothing to pay.
The exact amounts are set by the CBSA and Canada Post, not by us, so we cannot tell you in advance precisely what you will pay. You can find out more on the CBSA importing by mail page and the Canada Post customs duty and taxes page.
How to Pay
Canada Post will let you know the amount due. You can usually pay online before delivery, to the delivery driver, or when you collect your parcel from the post office, depending on how Canada Post handles your parcel. Your parcel is released once the charges are paid.
If the charges are not paid, Canada Post holds the parcel for a limited time and then returns it to us. If you have decided not to go ahead with your order, please email us rather than leaving the parcel uncollected, so we can talk you through the options.
Think a Charge Is Wrong?
If you believe you have been charged the wrong amount, you can ask the CBSA to review it. See the CBSA page on disputing duty and taxes.
Restricted Items
We do not ship knives, hatchets or other bladed items to Canada.
Some other goods are also prohibited or restricted imports. If you are unsure about an item, check the CBSA importing by mail guidance or ask us before you order.
