Goes well with

The Snugpak Special Forces Bivvi Bag WGTE is a lightweight waterproof sleeping bag cover built to protect a sleeping system from rain, wind and ground moisture during fast-moving field use, bushcraft and emergency survival. Small and light enough to live permanently in a rucksack, it adds a dependable layer of weather protection to almost any sleep setup, with or without a sleeping bag inside.

The bag is made from Paratex Dry, a breathable 100% nylon fabric with a 100% waterproof 5000mm hydrostatic head coating and fully taped seams, so it keeps weather out while moving moisture away from the sleeping system at a rate of 7.5 litres per square metre per 24 hours. A non-locking half-length zip runs down the centre front, allowing rapid entry and exit when speed matters, and it is the feature that sets this bivvi apart from the standard version. It comes in Standard (340g) and Extra Long (400g) sizes, in Olive Green, Black and Coyote Tan.

Safety note: Although the Paratex Dry fabric is breathable, Snugpak bivvi bags use a solid waterproof coating and sufficient air cannot pass through the fabric to sustain breathing. To prevent suffocation, never seal the bivvi bag completely; always maintain adequate airflow.
Which bivvi, and what does it pair with? Both Snugpak bivvi bags use the same Paratex Dry fabric, the same 5000mm hydrostatic head and the same fully taped seams, so they shed weather identically. The difference is the zip, and it decides which sleeping bag each one suits. This Special Forces version opens on a half-length zip at the centre front, matching the centre zips on the Special Forces 1 and Special Forces 2, so both openings sit in the same place and you get in and out from the front. Snugpak lists it as suitable for the Special Forces system. The standard Bivvi Bag has no zip at all, so you slide the sleeping bag in, which saves 40g and a little pack space. This version also adds an Extra Long size and a Coyote Tan option.
Not sure which bag goes inside it? A bivvi bag adds weather protection rather than warmth, so the sleeping bag inside still does the work. To pick one, read our guide Snugpak Sleeping Bags Compared: Which One Is Right for You?.
