The Highlander Pathfinder Military Map Compass is a lightweight baseplate compass built for accurate map reading in the field, on the hill and during navigation training. A transparent acrylic baseplate keeps the underlying map fully visible during route planning, while printed meridian lines support precise alignment with map grids. At 40g and 12.5 x 6 x 1cm it sits neatly in a map pocket or hangs from the included lanyard for quick access.
The luminous swinging dial and index pointer maintain bearing visibility in low light without additional equipment. A built-in magnifying viewer assists with reading fine grid references and small-scale symbols, and multiple measuring rules in centimetres and inches cover a range of distance plotting tasks. Romer scales for 1:25,000, 1:50,000 and 1:63,360 cover the standard OS map scales used across the UK.
