Zero Alpha Designs Ghillie Boonie Hat

The head is the hardest part of a person to hide. It is round, it is pale, it moves independently of everything else, and it sits at the top of the silhouette where the eye goes first. A plain boonie hat softens the outline a little. A ghillie boonie removes it.

Zero Alpha take a camouflage boonie hat and tie hand-dyed hessian over the crown and the full brim, densely enough that the hard circular edge of the brim disappears and the strands hang down past it, over the eyes and the ears. You still see out. From the front, as the photograph shows, there is no hat shape and no face shape left to read, just broken texture where a head should be.

The hessian is dyed in-house rather than bought pre-coloured, in the same greens, tans and russets used across the cape range, so a boonie ordered alongside a shroud comes back matching it rather than merely coordinating. There is enough tied garnish across the crown to push sprigs of local vegetation into on the day. It comes in one size, 59cm, which covers most adult heads in the medium to large range, and is built to order in the United Kingdom.

Zero Alpha Designs do not publish a stated warranty period for this range. As with everything we sell, your statutory rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply in full: goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If something is wrong with your hat, contact sales@taskoutdoor.co.uk with your order number and photographs of the fault and we will take it up with Zero Alpha on your behalf. Please note that because each hat is garnished by hand to order, variation in colour and garnish density between one hat and another is a normal feature of the product rather than a fault.

Safety Information

This is a camouflage garment and nothing more. It is designed to assist with visual concealment only and offers no protection against injury, heat, flame, ballistic threats or environmental hazards. Hessian and jute are natural fibres and will burn readily, so keep the hat well away from open flames, stoves, vehicle exhausts and any other source of high heat. Inspect it before every use, follow the care instructions supplied with the hat, and bear in mind that garnish hanging over the eyes and ears reduces peripheral vision and hearing. Safe use of this product is the responsibility of the wearer.
