Zero Alpha Designs Full Cape Leaf Suit

A leaf suit breaks your outline with shape rather than texture. Instead of hanging hessian strands to imitate grass, it layers hundreds of individually laser-cut fabric leaves over a mesh base so they stand proud and cast their own shadows. Against broadleaf woodland, hedgerow and scrub, where the background is built from leaf shapes, that reads more convincingly than strands do.

This is the longest of the three leaf lengths. It covers the hood, the shoulders, the torso and carries on down to the upper or mid thigh, which is as far as the cape goes: it is deliberately not full leg coverage, so your lower legs and feet stay clear to walk in without the hem catching every bramble and fence wire you pass. If you want the legs covered too, the matching Ghillie Chaps are built to finish the job.

Underneath the leaves is Zero Alpha's hand-dyed mesh, a breathable open backing dyed in-house so the colour varies naturally across the panel rather than sitting flat, carried on a Viper base shroud. Hand-dyed hessian is worked in among the leaves, so you get leaf shapes and strand texture in the same garment, and elastic loops throughout let you push local foliage in on the day. It is one size, in two schemes: Summer runs lighter and greener, Autumn into deeper browns and russets. Each one is weathered and field-tested before it is packed, and built to order in the United Kingdom.

Zero Alpha Designs do not publish a stated warranty period for this range. As with everything we sell, your statutory rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply in full: goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If something is wrong with your suit, contact sales@taskoutdoor.co.uk with your order number and photographs of the fault and we will take it up with Zero Alpha on your behalf. Please note that because each piece is hand-built to order, variation in colour, leaf density and finish between one suit and another is a normal feature of the product rather than a fault.

Safety Information

This is a camouflage garment and nothing more. It is designed to assist with visual concealment only and offers no protection against injury, heat, flame, ballistic threats or environmental hazards. Hessian, jute and the fabric leaves will burn readily, so keep the suit well away from open flames, stoves, vehicle exhausts and any other source of high heat. Inspect it before every use, follow the care instructions supplied with the garment, and bear in mind that a full-length cape reduces peripheral vision and snags easily on wire and thorn, so move deliberately in it. Safe use of this product is the responsibility of the wearer.

A Note on Infrared, Night Vision and Thermal

Zero Alpha describe this suit as using infrared-reducing materials. They publish no test data, rating or standard behind that, so we cannot tell you how much reduction it gives or how it was measured, and we are not going to put a number on it that nobody has measured. What we can be clear about is the distinction. An infrared-reflective treatment is aimed at image-intensifier night vision, which amplifies reflected near-infrared light. Thermal imaging is a different technology: it reads the heat a body emits, and no garnish layer, leaf or fabric treatment conceals a warm body from it. Buy this as visual camouflage. If defeating night vision or thermal matters to your use, ask us first and we will put the question to Zero Alpha directly.
