Most of the time, the only part of you that breaks the line is the part above cover. Behind a wall, a bund, a hedge or the lip of a hide, your legs and torso are already hidden by the ground itself, and what gives you away is the round, smooth, unmistakably human shape of a head and a pair of shoulders. That is the problem this shroud is built for, and it is why the shortest cape in Zero Alpha's range is the one a lot of people end up using most.
It pulls on over the head and covers the hood and the shoulders, finishing around the chest at the front and the top of the back. At roughly 200g it is a fraction of the weight of the longer capes, packs down into a daysack lid, and can be pulled on and off in seconds without unloading a plate carrier or a pack first. The third photograph shows it sitting over a carrier with everything still reachable underneath.
Underneath the garnish is the same Viper base shroud used across the range, a light mesh backing with rows of elastic loops sewn across it, clearly visible in the rear view. Hand-dyed hessian is tied on over the top in mixed greens, tans and russets, and the loops let you push bracken, grass or conifer straight into the suit on the ground you are working. Each one is weathered and tested before it is packed, and built to order in the United Kingdom.

It is made to order, not held in stock. Zero Alpha's stated lead time is up to 4-5 weeks, because your shroud is built by hand after you place the order.
Tell them how full you want it, and what you are blending into. The standard build is a base to work from rather than a finished thicket. Buyers who expect a dense suit and say nothing have found the delivered garment lighter than they pictured; buyers who specify get what they wanted. Use the order notes: say whether you want it dense or sparse, name your ground (woodland, moor, reedbed, standing crop, urban edge) and name your season. Photographs of the ground help most of all.
No two are identical. The last two photographs are two separate builds of this same shroud, one in a dark russet blend and one lighter with fabric leaves worked in, which is a fair picture of how much they vary. The hessian is hand-dyed and hand-tied in small batches, so colour, tone and garnish density differ from one to the next. That is inherent to a handmade product, not a fault. If yours arrives and is not right for your ground, tell us and we will take it back to Zero Alpha, who are willing to work with customers to get it there.

Warranty
Zero Alpha Designs do not publish a stated warranty period for this range. As with everything we sell, your statutory rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply in full: goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If something is wrong with your shroud, contact sales@taskoutdoor.co.uk with your order number and photographs of the fault and we will take it up with Zero Alpha on your behalf. Please note that because each piece is hand-built to order, variation in colour, garnish density and finish between one shroud and another is a normal feature of the product rather than a fault.
Safety Information
This is a camouflage garment and nothing more. It is designed to assist with visual concealment only and offers no protection against injury, heat, flame, ballistic threats or environmental hazards. Hessian and jute are natural fibres and will burn readily, so keep the shroud well away from open flames, stoves, vehicle exhausts and any other source of high heat. Inspect it before every use, follow the care instructions supplied with the garment, and bear in mind that a hood and garnish sitting around your head reduce peripheral vision and hearing. Safe use of this product is the responsibility of the wearer.
A Note on Night Vision and Thermal
A ghillie suit works against the naked eye and against optics that use visible light. It breaks up the human outline and blends it into the background. Thermal imaging is a different problem: it reads the heat a body emits rather than the light it reflects, and no garnish layer conceals a warm body from it. Zero Alpha make no rated night vision or thermal claim for this shroud, and neither do we.
