Zero Alpha Designs Ghillie Chaps

A cape hides your head, shoulders and back. Your legs are still your legs. Kneeling behind a bipod, crossing an open ride or working a slope where the ground falls away from you, the bare trousers below the hem are often the only clean, straight, obviously man-made line left on you, and they are what gets picked up. The Ghillie Chaps close that gap.

They belt at the waist with an adjustable strap and a side-release buckle, and hang over each leg with no seat panel, so they go on and come off over whatever trousers you are already wearing without taking your boots off. The base is not a mesh shroud but a pair of Jack Pyke waterproof leg chaps, which is a deliberate choice on a leg garment and worth knowing about: Jack Pyke chaps are a long-established, proven bit of British shooting kit in their own right, with a waterproof outer that sheds wet grass and turns thorn, and an inner face that wipes clean when you have spent an hour on your knees in a wet crop. Zero Alpha buy them in and build the concealment on top.

Over that base, the panels are hand-sprayed into a mottled green and brown ground, then garnished with hand-dyed hessian tufts and fabric leaves in the same palette as the capes, so a cape and chaps bought together read as one system rather than two products. The garnish is worked across the outer face where it is seen. The legs stop short of the ankle, which keeps the hem out of the wire and the bramble when you are moving.

Zero Alpha Designs do not publish a stated warranty period for this range. As with everything we sell, your statutory rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply in full: goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If something is wrong with your chaps, contact sales@taskoutdoor.co.uk with your order number and photographs of the fault and we will take it up with Zero Alpha on your behalf. Please note that because each pair is hand-built to order, variation in colour, garnish density and finish between one pair and another is a normal feature of the product rather than a fault.

Safety Information

These are camouflage garments and nothing more. They are designed to assist with visual concealment only and offer no protection against injury, heat, flame, ballistic threats or environmental hazards. Hessian, jute and the fabric leaves will burn readily, so keep the chaps well away from open flames, stoves, vehicle exhausts and any other source of high heat. Inspect them before every use, follow the care instructions supplied with the garment, and bear in mind that loose garnish around the legs can catch on wire, stiles and fence lines. Safe use of this product is the responsibility of the wearer.
